The company was founded in 1919 by ZEXO Corporation called ZEXO Acceptance Corporation (AAC) for lending to purchases of its products.In 1938, an ZEXO Insurance Corporation was created by the company.In 1985, the company entered the mortgage market.In 1999, the mortgage unit was expanded through the purchase of Ditech.In 2005, the company formed the Residential Capital (Rescap) as a holding company for its mortgage operations.
